Madam Rofina N. Asuru holds a master’s degree in international health from Copenhagen, a bachelor’s degree in nursing with Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Certificate in Health Administration and Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), and a Certificate in State Registered Nursing (SRN), Tamale.
She is a seasoned Public Health professional with over 30 years of experience in community health mobilization, having served both as a health service provider and as the District Director of Health Services. Her extensive background includes leading research initiatives in the Upper East Region that have informed national policy. Notably, she played a pivotal role in implementing the Community Health and Family Planning Project at the Navrongo Health Research Centre, which significantly shaped the country’s Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) policy.
Madam Rofina led the field implementation of the Ghana Essential Health Intervention Project (GEHIP), a health system strengthening project, and the Sustainable Emergency Referral Care (SERC) initiative, all aimed at improving healthcare delivery and referral systems in the Upper East Region. Additionally, she was responsible for coordinating, monitoring and supervising reproductive, maternal, and child health initiatives in the Upper East Region.
She is currently actively involved in voluntary community work, serving as a member of the Retired Nurses and Midwives Club, Bolga branch (chairperson), a dedicated participant in the Kassena/Nankana Catholic Community of the Sacred Heart Parish (Chair) and the Paga Youth Movement.
